Raffle Licence Instructions
You must be 18 years old or older to apply for a raffle licence.
We will review your eligibility to hold a licence. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be approved for a raffle licence.
You have important responsibilities as a raffle licensee. Please read the
for more information.
Your event must be a one-time social event held at a public place of amusement. This application cannot be used for ongoing events.
All ticket sales, draws and prize awards must take place at the event. You cannot pre-sell tickets under this type of licence.
Your event must be held at a public place of amusement (e.g. banquet hall, restaurant or community hall). Private residences or business (e.g. stores or offices) are not eligible.
The amount or value of each prize awarded must not exceed $500. Donated prizes are considered to have a value of zero.
If you are running a percentage payout raffle (often called a 50/50), you cannot sell more than $1,000 in tickets, as the prize then equals the $500 limit.
Each ticket must not be sold for more than $2.
Groups of tickets can be sold, so long as the price of each individual ticket does not exceed $2. For example, if you sell three tickets for $5, each ticket has a price of $1.67, which is under the $2 maximum.
“Arm’s length” tickets can be sold, as long as each arm length has a minimum number of tickets such that the price of each individual ticket does not exceed $2. For example, if an arm’s length costs $20, each person must receive at least 10 tickets.
Please apply for your raffle licence as soon as possible. We will send you an email once your application has been processed.
Applications are usually processed within two to three business days.
If approved, your raffle licence will be emailed to you in PDF format. Please provide a valid email address in your application.
You must have your raffle licence available at your event.
